What this trial studies

This study aims to explore the muscle anabolic response to acute beta2-adrenergic stimulation using Salmeterol in young, healthy men and women. Participants will be physically active individuals aged 18-40 who engage in more than five hours of exercise per week. The study will compare the effects of Salmeterol against a placebo to assess its impact on exercise performance and muscle response. The research is conducted at the University of Copenhagen, focusing on understanding how beta2-adrenergic stimulation can enhance muscle hypertrophy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy, physically active individuals aged 18-40 with high levels of aerobic fitness.

Not a fit: Patients who are smokers, have chronic illnesses, or are pregnant will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into enhancing exercise performance and muscle growth through pharmacological means.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using Salmeterol for this purpose may be novel, previous studies have shown that beta2-adrenergic stimulation can influence muscle growth and performance.
