What this trial studies
This study aims to establish a high-quality standardized clinical database for pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) inpatients across major cities in China. It will collect data on the incidence, fatality rates, pathogen distribution, and anti-infective treatments for community-acquired and nosocomial infections among patients admitted to the PICU from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2025. All patients will be followed until death or withdrawal from the PICU, allowing for comprehensive analysis of clinical outcomes and treatment efficacy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pediatric patients admitted to the PICU with severe infections.
Not a fit: Patients who are not infected or do not require PICU admission will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of severe infections in children and improve treatment protocols in PICUs.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in establishing clinical databases for infection tracking, suggesting this approach may yield valuable insights.
