Investigating senescent cells in women with thin endometrial lining

Is Thin Endometrial Lining Associated with Senescent Endometrial Cells

Observational Trio Fertility · NCT06450301

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the relationship between senescent endometrial cells and thin endometrial lining in women who have used oral contraceptives long-term. Participants will undergo gynecologic ultrasound to assess endometrial thickness and an endometrial biopsy to evaluate the presence of senescent cells. The study seeks to determine if these senescent cells contribute to the failure of the endometrium to respond to estrogen, which is crucial for fertility. The findings could provide insights into the underlying mechanisms affecting women with Asherman's syndrome and thin endometrial lining.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 18-39 with thin endometrial lining after oral contraceptive use and those diagnosed with Asherman's syndrome.

Not a fit: Patients with systemic diseases, coagulopathies, or those currently using hormonal contraception will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and treatment options for women experiencing infertility due to thin endometrial lining.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific focus on senescent cells in thin endometrial lining is novel, related studies have explored endometrial health and cell senescence, indicating potential for meaningful findings.
