What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to explore the effectiveness of cryopreserving ovarian tissue in girls diagnosed with Turner syndrome to enhance their fertility potential. Participants aged 2 to 18 will undergo laparoscopic surgery to remove one ovary for cryopreservation, with the goal of later autotransplantation to facilitate pregnancy. The study will also assess the relationship between hormone monitoring and menopause onset, as well as investigate genetic factors contributing to ovarian failure in Turner syndrome. By addressing these questions, the trial seeks to improve reproductive outcomes for women with Turner syndrome.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are girls aged 2 to 17 with a confirmed diagnosis of Turner syndrome and specific karyotype variations.
Not a fit: Patients with severe cardiac disease or those with karyotypes containing Y chromosome material may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve fertility options and outcomes for women with Turner syndrome.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of ovarian tissue cryopreservation is being explored in various contexts, this specific application in Turner syndrome is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
