What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the physical intensity and quality of movement during a one-hour Parkiboks session for individuals with Parkinson's disease. The researchers will measure cardiovascular demand and the quantity of upper-limb movements to understand the benefits of non-contact boxing. By analyzing these factors, the study seeks to provide insights into how such activities can enhance physical health in this population. The study is exploratory and aims to gather preliminary data on the effects of Parkiboks.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease who actively participate in non-contact boxing sessions.
Not a fit: Patients who are wheelchair-bound or unable to understand the informed consent document may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into how non-contact boxing can improve physical health and quality of life for patients with Parkinson's disease.
How similar studies have performed: While studies have shown benefits of non-contact boxing for Parkinson's disease, this specific investigation into movement intensity and quality is exploratory and may provide novel insights.
