What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore melanoma, a type of skin cancer, specifically in children, adolescents, and young adults, referred to as CAYA patients. Due to the rarity of melanoma in individuals under 30, the study seeks to gather critical information to improve diagnosis and treatment options for this demographic. It will involve standardization of tissue samples, histopathological analysis, and advanced imaging techniques to characterize melanoma samples. The data collected will also contribute to a Pan-European online platform for collaboration among healthcare professionals dealing with complex melanoma cases.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adolescents and young adults under 30 years with a histologically confirmed diagnosis of melanoma or related neoplasms.
Not a fit: Patients over 30 years of age or those without a confirmed diagnosis of melanoma will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic and treatment strategies for melanoma in young patients.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on melanoma exist, this specific focus on CAYA patients is relatively novel and underexplored.
