Investigating long non-coding RNAs as diagnostic markers in pediatric T-cell leukemia

Long Non-coding RNAs and Their Role on Epigenome as Diagnostic Markers in Childhood

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to identify specific long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) that can serve as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia of T cells (T-ALL). The research will compare lncRNA expression levels in T-ALL patients with those in healthy subjects and naive T-lymphocytes. By analyzing biological samples collected from pediatric patients, the study seeks to understand the role of lncRNAs in chromatin reorganization and transcriptional regulation related to T-ALL progression. The findings could lead to improved diagnostic tools for this rare cancer.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pediatric patients aged 1-18 years diagnosed with T-ALL.

Not a fit: Patients outside the age range of 1-18 years or those who do not have a diagnosis of T-ALL will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide new diagnostic and prognostic tools for pediatric patients with T-ALL, potentially improving treatment outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While the role of lncRNAs in cancer is an emerging field, this specific approach to T-ALL using lncRNAs as biomarkers is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
