Investigating infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria in a Swiss hospital
Epidemiology of Carbapenemase-producing Bacteria in a Swiss Tertiary Care Hospital

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to analyze the incidence of Carbapenemase-producing bacteria (CPB) at the University Hospital Basel. It will collect retrospective and prospective data on the time to detection of CPB, initiation of infection control measures, and associated risk factors, including previous antibiotic use. The study will also evaluate patient outcomes related to these infections, providing valuable insights into the management of antibiotic resistance in clinical settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients who have been diagnosed with Carbapenemase-producing bacteria from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2028.
Not a fit: Patients who have refused the use of their data for research purposes will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve infection control practices and treatment strategies for patients with antibiotic-resistant infections.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in understanding antibiotic resistance patterns, making this approach relevant and potentially impactful.
