Investigating how lipoproteins affect platelet function in healthy individuals and those with lipid disorders
Lipoprotein Functions in Healthy Individuals and Subjects With Lipid Disorders

What this trial studies
This observational study examines the role of lipoproteins in influencing heart and blood vessel health, particularly in individuals with lipid disorders. It focuses on understanding how the functionality of these lipoproteins, rather than just their levels, impacts cardiovascular risk. By analyzing structural and functional changes in lipoproteins and their effects on platelet activity, the study aims to uncover new insights into the prevention and treatment of heart disease. Participants will include both healthy volunteers and those with abnormalities in lipid panels.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include healthy individuals and those aged 18 to 69 with abnormalities in lipid panels.
Not a fit: Patients with drug or alcohol abuse issues, significant mental impairments, current smokers, or known bleeding disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved strategies for preventing and treating heart disease by enhancing our understanding of lipoprotein functionality.
How similar studies have performed: While the study explores a novel approach to understanding lipoprotein functionality, similar studies have indicated the importance of lipoproteins in cardiovascular health, suggesting potential for success.
