What this trial studies
This study aims to explore the effects of non-prescription cannabidiol (CBD) on driving performance, drowsiness, sedation, and cognitive function among healthy adults aged 18-30. Utilizing a randomized controlled trial design, the research will assess the impact of different doses of CBD oil (300mg and 150mg) compared to a placebo. The study will also analyze how these effects may vary by sex, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of CBD's influence on driving abilities. Participants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including a valid driver's license and a clean drug test.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy adults aged 18-30 who possess a current driver's license and have driven a vehicle in the past month.
Not a fit: Patients with serious chronic diseases or those currently using CBD or tobacco products may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into the safety of CBD use for individuals who drive.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research into the effects of CBD, this specific investigation into driving performance is relatively novel.
