Investigating home blood pressure variability and its effects on heart and metabolic health in hypertensive patients
Impact of Home and Clinical Blood Pressure Variability on Arteriosclerosis and Metabolic Indicators

What this trial studies
This observational study examines the relationship between home blood pressure variability (BPV) and arteriosclerosis, as well as metabolic dysfunction in hypertensive patients over a three-year period. Utilizing the Healthscan mobile application, participants will record their daily blood pressure readings, allowing researchers to analyze the predictive value of BPV for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) such as heart attacks and strokes. The study aims to validate the importance of home BP monitoring in managing hypertension and understanding its impact on cardiovascular and metabolic health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 19 years or older who have been diagnosed with hypertension and are using antihypertensive medication.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to consent or cannot reliably use the home monitoring app may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management strategies for hypertension, potentially reducing the risk of serious cardiovascular events.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results in using home blood pressure monitoring to predict cardiovascular outcomes, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
