Investigating heart effects of carbon monoxide poisoning treated with hyperbaric oxygen
Cardiotoxicity of Carbon Monoxide in Patients Treated With Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
University Hospital, Brest · NCT06549621

What this trial studies
This observational study examines the cardiologic effects of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning in patients who received hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at the Brest University Hospital. It involves a retrospective analysis of health data from patients treated between January 2015 and December 2021, focusing on both early and late cardiovascular manifestations. Additionally, patients will be contacted for telephone interviews to gather further insights into their health post-treatment. The study aims to enhance understanding of the cardiac risks associated with CO poisoning and HBOT.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients who were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning with hyperbaric oxygen therapy at the Brest University Hospital during the specified timeframe.
Not a fit: Patients who refused treatment or did not receive hyperbaric oxygen therapy for carbon monoxide poisoning will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the management and treatment protocols for patients suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on carbon monoxide poisoning, this specific investigation into the cardiac effects post-HBOT is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
