Investigating genetic factors in allergic rhinitis severity

Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) Single Nucleotide Gene Polymorphism and Nerve Growth Factor as Risk Factors That Increase Severity of Allergic Rhinitis

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the relationship between brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene polymorphisms and nerve growth factor levels as potential risk factors that may increase the severity of allergic rhinitis. By genotyping chronic allergic rhinitis patients, the study seeks to understand how genetic and immunological factors contribute to the condition. The findings could provide insights into the underlying mechanisms of allergic diseases and their impact on patient health.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are chronic allergic rhinitis patients who are currently on anti-allergic therapy.

Not a fit: Patients who are not on anti-allergic therapy or have other forms of allergic diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of allergic rhinitis, potentially guiding personalized treatment strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research into genetic factors in allergic diseases, this specific approach focusing on BDNF and nerve growth factor in allergic rhinitis is relatively novel.
