Investigating Exosomes in Pancreatic Cancer Progression

Role of Exosomes in Pancreatic Cancer Progression

Observational IRCCS Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Bologna · NCT06777030

What this trial studies

This pilot study aims to identify circulating markers in the blood and urine of patients with pancreatic cancer and their association with disease stage. It will involve a cross-sectional analysis of tumor tissue, blood, and urine samples to characterize the content of extracellular vesicles/exosomes. The study will also explore the mechanisms of epithelial-mesenchymal transition and tumor aggressiveness to find potential predictive and diagnostic markers for pancreatic cancer.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Not a fit: Patients who cannot undergo endoscopy with biopsy sampling or have other active neoplastic diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to the development of new diagnostic markers for early detection of pancreatic cancer.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is exploratory, similar studies investigating exosomes in cancer have shown promise, indicating potential for success.
