What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on the Early Oral Aging Syndrome (EOAS), which examines how systemic diseases and lifestyle factors contribute to oral health changes in young children. It aims to assess the prevalence and severity of early childhood tooth wear using a specific diagnostic index. Participants aged 3 to 6 years, who are receiving dental care at the University Nove de Julho, will be evaluated to identify factors associated with varying levels of tooth wear. The study seeks to enhance understanding of oral health issues in the pediatric population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 3 to 6 years with complete deciduous teeth who are enrolled in dental care at the Uninove pediatric dentistry clinic.
Not a fit: Children with amelogenesis or dentinogenesis imperfecta, those undergoing orthodontic treatment, or those with genetic syndromes may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved early detection and management of oral health issues in children, enhancing their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While the concept of oral aging is being explored, this specific approach to studying early oral aging in children is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
