What this trial studies

This observational study examines how brain activity related to executive functions affects walking performance in individuals with Parkinson's disease and healthy older adults. It focuses on the relationship between inhibitory control, cognitive function, and gait stability. Participants will undergo assessments of their cognitive abilities and walking performance while their brain activity is monitored using electroencephalography. The goal is to better understand the impact of cognitive functions on gait disturbances in Parkinson's disease.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease who can walk independently and have stable medication.

Not a fit: Patients with other neurological, musculoskeletal, or cardiopulmonary disorders may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved strategies for managing gait disturbances in patients with Parkinson's disease.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific relationship between brain activity and dual-task walking in Parkinson's disease is not well established, similar studies have explored cognitive function impacts on gait, suggesting potential for meaningful insights.
