What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore novel plasma and imaging biomarkers in patients diagnosed with acute pericarditis. Participants will undergo blood sampling to measure potential biomarkers and will be followed for up to 18 months to assess the prognostic value of these biomarkers in predicting complications such as atrial fibrillation and pericarditis recurrences. The study will include 300 patients and will adhere to established clinical recommendations for diagnosis and treatment.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals with a first diagnosis of acute pericarditis.

Not a fit: Patients who are unwilling to provide written consent will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved risk stratification and management of patients with acute pericarditis.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited clinical evidence on prognostic factors in acute pericarditis, this study's focus on novel biomarkers represents a potentially novel approach.
