What this trial studies

This study aims to develop, pilot, and assess an infection prevention and control (IPC) intervention to reduce hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) in Cambodia and the Lao People's Democratic Republic. It will involve a gap analysis of current IPC practices among healthcare workers in selected hospitals, followed by the development of an intervention based on identified needs and existing literature. The intervention will then be piloted, and its feasibility and acceptability will be evaluated through feedback from healthcare workers and stakeholders. The study follows a structured framework to ensure comprehensive assessment and development of effective IPC strategies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthcare workers aged 18 and above who have been working in the selected wards of the chosen hospitals for at least six months.

Not a fit: Patients who are interns or visiting healthcare workers will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce the incidence of hospital-acquired infections in low- and middle-income countries, improving patient safety and health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar IPC interventions in various settings, but this specific approach in LMICs is novel.
