What this trial studies
This pilot trial aims to implement and evaluate Internet-delivered Emotion Regulation Individual Therapy (IERITA) for adolescents engaging in nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) within child and adolescent mental health services. Participants aged 13-17 will be randomly assigned to either standard IERITA or an adaptable version based on their treatment response. The study will assess feasibility, treatment satisfaction, and adherence over a 12-month period, with data collected at multiple time points. The goal is to optimize treatment outcomes for adolescents at risk of insufficient effects from standard therapy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents aged 13-17 who have engaged in self-injury within the past three months.
Not a fit: Patients at immediate risk of suicide or those requiring urgent social interventions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this therapy could provide a scalable and effective treatment option for adolescents struggling with self-injury.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise for digital interventions in treating self-injury, but this specific approach is relatively novel.
