What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of an internet-based dialectical behaviour therapy-informed skills training program designed for adult drinkers. It focuses on reducing alcohol consumption and improving psychological distress and emotional regulation among participants. The intervention includes monthly health education and seeks to gather insights into participants' experiences and perceptions of the program. The study targets Hong Kong Chinese adults who are motivated to stop drinking and have access to the necessary technology.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Hong Kong Chinese adults aged 18 and older who are experiencing psychological distress and have a desire to reduce their alcohol intake.
Not a fit: Patients with psychotic disorders, cognitive impairments, or those currently engaged in other alcohol-related psychosocial interventions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could provide a novel and accessible approach for individuals struggling with alcohol consumption and related psychological issues.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using internet-based dialectical behaviour therapy is gaining traction, the specific application for alcohol consumption reduction is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
