International registry of robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer

The UGIRA International Registry for Robot-Assisted Minimally Invasive Gastrectomy (RAMIG) for Gastric Cancer

Observational Chinese University of Hong Kong · NCT07517432

What this trial studies

This observational international registry, led from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, collects standardized perioperative and postoperative data on patients undergoing robot-assisted minimally invasive gastrectomy (RAMIG). It aims to harmonize definitions of outcomes so results can be compared across centers, capture variations in surgical technique, and quantify the learning curve for surgeons adopting RAMIG. Data elements include patient characteristics, surgical details, complications, oncologic metrics, and hospital stay. Aggregated results will be used to inform safer and more effective implementation of RAMIG worldwide.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Patients with gastric cancer who undergo robot-assisted minimally invasive gastrectomy at a participating center are ideal candidates for inclusion.

Not a fit: Patients who are not treated with RAMIG (for example those undergoing open surgery, non-surgical management, or surgery at non-participating centers) would not directly benefit from this registry.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the registry could help surgeons adopt RAMIG more safely and consistently, potentially reducing complications and improving recovery for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Numerous single-center and comparative studies have shown robotic gastrectomy to be feasible and safe, but large international registries standardizing outcomes and learning-curve data remain limited.
