What this trial studies
This single-group, pre–post intervention enrolls volunteer fourth-year occupational therapy intern students who are literate in Turkish. Participants receive one hour of interactive IRM-based training per week for six weeks delivered online via Zoom, with face-to-face assessments before and after the program. Outcomes are measured using a sociodemographic form, the Self-Efficacy for Therapeutic Use of Self (SETUS), and Holland's Vocational Choice instrument, and the target sample size was set at a minimum of 54 based on a power analysis. There is no control group and students who do not attend regularly or have chronic illness are excluded.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are fourth-year occupational therapy intern students who are literate in Turkish and can attend weekly online sessions and in-person assessments.
Not a fit: Students who cannot attend the training regularly, who are not fourth-year OT interns, or who have chronic illnesses are unlikely to benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the training could help occupational therapy students develop stronger therapeutic use skills that improve their future interactions with patients.
How similar studies have performed: IRM-based approaches have been used in occupational therapy education with some positive reports on therapeutic use skills, but rigorous controlled evidence remains limited.
