Intensive physiotherapy for children with posterior fossa tumors
Intensive Physiotherapy Intervention in Children Affected by Tumors Located in Posterior Cranial Fossa
This study is testing whether more frequent, intensive physiotherapy helps children recovering from surgery for brain tumors improve their movement skills better than regular therapy.

What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of both conventional and intensive physiotherapy interventions in improving gross motor skills in children who have undergone surgery for posterior fossa tumors. The intensive physiotherapy involves sessions twice a day, five days a week, for four weeks, while conventional therapy follows a standard 1:1 operator-patient ratio without advanced technology. The effectiveness will be measured using various scales, including the Gross Motor Function Measurement (GMFM) and the Pediatric Balance Scale, among others. The study seeks to provide insights into the rehabilitation needs of these children, who often experience ataxia post-surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 0 to 25 years who have undergone surgical resection of tumors located in the posterior fossa.
Not a fit: Patients currently undergoing rehabilitative protocols that utilize technological devices will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved rehabilitation strategies that enhance motor skills and daily functioning in children affected by posterior fossa tumors.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited scientific evidence in the field of motor rehabilitation for this specific condition, similar approaches in physiotherapy have shown promise in improving motor skills in other pediatric populations.
