What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) on patients experiencing symptoms related to cancer and its treatment. A total of 750 patients undergoing active oncology treatment will receive a consultation with an integrative oncologist followed by eight sessions of either acupuncture or touch therapies. The aim is to assess the impact of these therapies on symptom burden, quality of life, and overall function. The study will provide valuable insights into the role of CIM in supportive cancer care.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are currently undergoing active oncology treatment.

Not a fit: Patients who are not interested in attending all eight CIM treatment sessions or do not meet the eligibility criteria may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve the quality of life for cancer patients by alleviating their symptoms through integrative therapies.
