What this trial studies
This project aims to enhance problem-solving skills, empathy, creativity, collaboration, and patient-centered care attitudes among undergraduate nursing students at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. A group of 50 second-year nursing students will be randomly assigned to either a design thinking workshop or a control group with no intervention. The study will include a systematic review, pre- and post-workshop evaluations, and a 3-hour introductory workshop focused on applying design thinking principles to healthcare challenges. The effectiveness of this approach in improving nursing education is being evaluated over a 9-month period.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are second-year undergraduate nursing students at the Chinese University of Hong Kong who are willing to participate.
Not a fit: Students with prior experience in design thinking workshops may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the quality of nursing education and the competencies of future nurses.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes from design thinking workshops in healthcare education, but this specific application in nursing education is still being explored.
