What this trial studies
This research investigates the impact of inhalation therapy using a nebulizer on the fear and anxiety levels of children aged 3-6 who are hospitalized in a pediatric emergency department. The study will involve 120 children and their mothers, utilizing various tools such as a Child Fear Scale and Emotional Indicators Scale to assess outcomes. Data will be collected through face-to-face interviews and physiological parameters will be monitored before, during, and after the nebulizer treatment. The study aims to determine if therapeutic play elements, like toy-figured nebulizers, can alleviate anxiety during medical procedures.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 3-6 who require nebulizer treatment for respiratory conditions and have their mothers present during the procedure.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include those with previous inhalation therapy experiences, significant fever, pain, or terminal conditions.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help reduce anxiety and fear in young children undergoing medical treatments, improving their overall experience and cooperation.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored therapeutic play in medical settings, this specific approach using nebulizers with toy figures is relatively novel.
