What this trial studies

The project uses a one-group pretest–posttest design to recruit potential living kidney donors from urology and kidney transplant outpatient clinics at two hospitals in northern Taiwan. After informed consent and a baseline questionnaire, participants receive a four-week information-assisted program alongside routine care, with follow-up assessments at four and eight weeks. Outcomes include decisional conflict, decision self-efficacy, knowledge about living kidney donation, positive thinking, family resilience, and satisfaction with the program. Structured, validated questionnaires will be used to compare changes from baseline to each follow-up time point.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are adults willing to undergo evaluation for living kidney donation who have completed initial medical screening, can provide written informed consent, and have a smartphone or tablet with internet access.

Not a fit: People deemed unsuitable for donation after specialist evaluation, those without an internet-capable device, or individuals unwilling or unable to complete the program or follow-up questionnaires are unlikely to benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could help potential donors make more informed, confident, and less conflicted decisions about donating a kidney.

How similar studies have performed: Previous decision-aid and information-based programs in transplant and other medical decisions have often improved knowledge and reduced decisional conflict, but randomized evidence specifically in potential living kidney donors is limited.
