What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of individualized alpha neurofeedback training for children diagnosed with ADHD. A total of 120 participants will be randomly assigned to either a neurofeedback group or a sham feedback group, undergoing training twice a week for four weeks. The study aims to evaluate changes in ADHD symptoms through cognitive and EEG assessments conducted before and after the intervention, as well as follow-ups at 12 months. The trial seeks to address previous limitations in neurofeedback studies by utilizing more effective neurophysiological markers.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children who meet the DSM-IV-TR criteria for ADHD and are not currently undergoing other treatments.

Not a fit: Patients with comorbid psychiatric disorders or significant cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a non-pharmacological treatment option for children with ADHD, potentially reducing reliance on medication.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown mixed results regarding neurofeedback for ADHD, indicating that while some approaches have been promising, this specific method is relatively novel.
