What this trial studies

This study aims to assess the feasibility of a co-designed exercise program tailored for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. The program focuses on addressing the physical and logistical barriers that patients face while encouraging regular exercise, which has been shown to alleviate chemotherapy side effects such as fatigue and muscle weakness. By involving patients and healthcare professionals in the design process, the study seeks to create a flexible and individualized exercise intervention that can adapt to the unpredictable nature of chemotherapy treatment. The ultimate goal is to enhance patients' quality of life and overall well-being during their treatment.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 with stage I to IIIc breast, ovarian, or colorectal cancer who are scheduled to receive chemotherapy with curative intent.

Not a fit: Patients with advanced or metastatic disease, those receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy, or high-dose chemotherapy during hospital admission may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the quality of life for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy by reducing treatment-related side effects.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated that exercise interventions during chemotherapy can be beneficial, but this approach of co-designing a flexible program is relatively novel.
