What this trial studies
This study aims to enhance the effectiveness of voice therapy by utilizing asynchronous telepractice and a mobile app designed for daily voice practice. It will develop a flexible program that allows clients to engage in voice therapy in their own environment, providing repeated learning opportunities and performance feedback. The approach includes ecological momentary intervention (EMI) to track progress over time and improve therapy outcomes. By addressing the barriers in current voice therapy practices, this study seeks to provide a more effective solution for individuals with voice disorders.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include vocally healthy students in education programs or professional teachers experiencing voice complaints who have not yet sought help.
Not a fit: Patients who are not students or professional teachers, or those without access to a smartphone, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the accessibility and effectiveness of voice therapy for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While synchronous telepractice has been widely researched, this study's focus on asynchronous methods is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
