What this trial studies

This study aims to enhance the well-being of sign language interpreters by implementing and evaluating a tailored Total Worker Health® program. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study will compare the effects of this specialized health protection and promotion program against a general health program. The central hypothesis is that interpreters participating in the intervention will show significantly better well-being outcomes than those in the control group. The study will involve certified interpreters who work a minimum of 10 hours per week and are bilingual in English and American Sign Language.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are certified sign language interpreters who are bilingual in English and American Sign Language and work at least 10 hours per week.

Not a fit: Patients who are not certified sign language interpreters or are under 18 years old may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could lead to improved mental and physical well-being for sign language interpreters.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be similar health programs, this specific approach tailored for sign language interpreters is novel and has not been extensively tested.
