What this trial studies
This trial evaluates the BASIS-T intervention, a pre-implementation strategy aimed at enhancing teachers' beliefs and attitudes to improve the adoption of evidence-based practices for addressing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges in children. The study focuses on K-5th grade teachers in elementary and K-8 schools, assessing how individual-level processes can facilitate behavior change among educators. By comparing the BASIS-T intervention to an attention control group, the trial aims to measure the effectiveness of this approach in improving student outcomes related to social and emotional well-being.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are K-5th grade teachers working in elementary or K-8 schools who have not received training in delivering specific behavioral interventions in the past five years.
Not a fit: Teachers who work exclusively in special education classrooms may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could lead to better implementation of evidence-based practices in schools, ultimately improving the social and emotional outcomes for children facing challenges.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of targeting teacher behavior change is promising, the specific implementation of BASIS-T is novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
