What this trial studies

This study aims to implement and evaluate strategies to enhance the use of two specific upper extremity motor outcome measures, the Fugl-Meyer Assessment and the Action Research Arm Test, in stroke rehabilitation. An interdisciplinary team will tailor a package of implementation strategies, known as I-STROM, to promote the adoption of these measures across various rehabilitation settings. The study will utilize a mixed-methods design, collecting both quantitative and qualitative data to assess the effectiveness, acceptability, and feasibility of the I-STROM strategies. Stakeholder input, including occupational therapy practitioners and administrators, will guide the tailoring process to ensure relevance and practicality in real-world settings.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are occupational therapists and administrators involved in stroke care at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Not a fit: Patients who are not receiving occupational therapy services or are not involved in the evaluation of stroke survivors will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved rehabilitation outcomes for stroke survivors by standardizing and enhancing the use of evidence-based outcome measures.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in implementing evidence-based practices in rehabilitation settings, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
