What this trial studies

This study aims to design and implement an intervention focused on sleep health and mindfulness for older adults living in residential housing facilities. It will utilize social network techniques to identify opinion leaders who will help disseminate tailored messages based on an existing Sleep Health Program. The intervention will be adapted to meet the specific needs of cognitively unimpaired older adults and will include qualitative interviews to gather feedback on the approach. Additionally, the study will collect data on sleep quality, cognitive function, and quality of life, using both surveys and FitBit devices over a six-month period.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are older adults aged 55 and above who reside in residential housing facilities and are cognitively unimpaired.

Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive impairment, as determined by the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance sleep quality and cognitive function among older adults, leading to improved overall well-being.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using social network approaches for health interventions, suggesting potential success for this novel application.
