Effect of Sit-to-Stand Intervention in the Intensive Care Unit Survivors: A Randomized Controlled Trial
NA · National Taiwan University Hospital · NCT04640441

What this trial studies
This research aims to enhance the sit-to-stand ability of patients who have survived intensive care unit (ICU) treatment. It involves a randomized controlled trial where participants, aged 20 and older, who are unable to perform sit-to-stand after ICU discharge, will receive either standard care or an additional sit-to-stand care protocol for two weeks. The study will evaluate various functional outcomes over the course of one year, including rates of bed-bound status and mortality. The goal is to determine the effectiveness of this intervention in improving physical function and independence in daily activities.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 20 and older who have been in the ICU for more than two days and are unable to sit-to-stand at the time of discharge.
Not a fit: Patients who were bedridden prior to hospitalization or have severe comorbidities affecting mobility may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the physical function and quality of life for ICU survivors.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar interventions aimed at improving mobility in ICU survivors, indicating potential for success.
