What this trial studies
This study investigates how self-compassion can enhance psychological well-being in children diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It explores the relationship between ADHD traits, perceived criticism, rejection sensitivity, and self-compassion. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a self-compassion intervention group or a waitlist control group, with the intervention consisting of training sessions for children and group sessions for parents. The goal is to provide insights into supportive measures for children with ADHD and improve their mental health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are upper primary students with a clinical diagnosis or symptoms of ADHD who can communicate in Chinese.
Not a fit: Patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder or those with impairments that hinder participation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the mental health and well-being of children with ADHD.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using self-compassion interventions in ADHD is novel, similar studies have shown positive outcomes in related areas.
