Improving safety and accuracy of brain biopsies for lymphoma patients

Improving Safety and Accuracy of Stereotactic Brain Biopsies in Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma (PCNSL): Integration of Advanced MRI Patterns and Fluorescein Sodium Fluorescence

Observational IRCCS San Raffaele · NCT06263361

What this trial studies

This study evaluates the MRI imaging characteristics of the peritumoral area in patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) to correlate these findings with pathological results. By understanding different MRI patterns, the research aims to enhance the diagnostic potential for patients with deep-seated lesions who may not be eligible for traditional stereotactic biopsies. This observational study focuses on adult patients undergoing biopsy for newly diagnosed PCNSL, aiming to improve treatment outcomes through better diagnostic accuracy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adult patients who are undergoing stereotactic biopsy for newly diagnosed primary central nervous system lymphomas.

Not a fit: Patients with severe hepatic, renal, or cardiac dysfunction, recent myocardial infarction or stroke, or those who are pregnant will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate diagnoses and improved treatment options for patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is focused on improving diagnostic accuracy for a specific condition, similar studies have shown promise in enhancing biopsy techniques and imaging correlations.
