What this trial studies
This study evaluates a performance-based incentive plan aimed at enhancing the quality of primary care within the UCLA Health system. The Department of Medicine is implementing a communication strategy that utilizes behavioral economics principles to motivate physicians to improve their performance across various quality domains. Physicians will be randomly assigned to different communication approaches, including personalized feedback and collaborative program design, to assess their effectiveness in improving care quality. The study aims to provide insights into how to successfully implement performance-based programs in primary care settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are primary care physicians within the UCLA Health Department of Medicine who are eligible for the PCCE Incentive program.
Not a fit: Patients who are pediatricians or work in urgent care settings may not benefit from this study due to structural differences in their performance evaluation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to significant improvements in the quality of primary care services provided to patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar behavioral economics approaches in healthcare, indicating potential for positive outcomes in this context.
