What this trial studies
This study aims to enhance the utilization of postpartum care services in Nepal through a mobile health (mHealth) intervention that includes video content and reminder SMSs. It will involve both qualitative and quantitative methods, starting with focus group discussions among postnatal mothers to identify barriers and enablers to attending postnatal care visits. The study will apply the COM-B model to understand the psychological, physical, and social factors influencing women's behaviors regarding postpartum care. The findings will inform the development of targeted mHealth strategies to improve awareness and access to essential postnatal services.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women aged 19 years and above who are in their third trimester of pregnancy, literate, and able to use a mobile phone.
Not a fit: Patients who are only seeking childbirth services without prior antenatal care or those with serious complications during labor and delivery may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce maternal mortality by increasing the uptake of essential postpartum care services.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing mHealth interventions for maternal health have shown promising results, indicating potential for success in this approach.
