What this trial studies
This study focuses on enhancing Person-Centered Care in geriatric centers by implementing meaningful activities tailored for elderly patients, particularly those with dementia and debility. It employs a descriptive cross-sectional quasi-experimental design involving 10 participants, where the roles of occupational therapists and direct care professionals are pivotal in developing these activities. Data will be collected using the PDC evaluation instrument before and after the intervention, along with a survey to assess outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elderly patients residing in geriatric centers who can engage in meaningful activities.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to participate in daytime activities or those who are on night shifts may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the quality of care and life for elderly patients in geriatric settings.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of integrating meaningful activities in geriatric care is gaining traction, this specific study's methodology appears to be novel and untested.
