What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an ergonomic protocol designed specifically for esports athletes. Participants will engage in a 6-week program that includes implementing a strengthening protocol, attending educational sessions on gaming ergonomics, and completing assessments to measure performance and ergonomic risks. The study will utilize a pre-post design to analyze any changes in performance and risk factors associated with prolonged gaming. Recruitment will involve various outreach methods, and eligible participants will undergo baseline assessments before starting the intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are esports athletes aged 18 and older who primarily play PC games using a mouse and keyboard for at least 10 hours a week.
Not a fit: Patients currently receiving treatment for pain related to prolonged gaming or with a history of upper extremity injuries may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this protocol could enhance esports athletes' performance while minimizing the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically targeting ergonomic protocols in esports, similar interventions in other athletic fields have shown positive outcomes.
