What this trial studies

This feasibility study aims to evaluate the practicality of using a digital health tool called Keep-On-Keep-Up Nutrition (KOKU-Nut) to enhance dietary intake among community-dwelling older adults aged 65 and older. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the intervention group, which will engage with KOKU-Nut three times a week for 12 weeks, or the control group, which will receive usual care along with an informational leaflet about healthy living. The study will assess adherence to the intervention and identify motivations, barriers, and facilitators for using the digital tool. The findings will inform the design of larger trials to evaluate the effectiveness of KOKU-Nut.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are community-dwelling adults aged 65 and older who have internet access and are willing to use a digital device.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to communicate in English or have known cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved nutrition and hydration among older adults, enhancing their overall health and quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While there are few studies specifically targeting older adults with digital health tools for nutrition, similar approaches in younger populations have shown promise, making this a novel exploration.
