Improving muscle recovery in patients with facial paralysis

Evaluation of Functional Recovery of Facial Paralysis in People With Different Kinesic Treatment Options.

Not applicable Interventional Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, Argentina · NCT06532903

What this trial studies

This clinical investigation compares the recovery of muscle function in individuals with peripheral facial paralysis receiving kinesthetic treatment with electrostimulation against those receiving standard treatment without electrostimulation. The study will take place at the UNNE University Kinesiology Service from 2023 to 2025, involving an initial evaluation of muscle movements and functional outcomes measured using established scales. A total of 179 patients will be recruited, with a focus on those who have not previously undergone kinesic treatment. The study aims to facilitate early reintegration into daily social activities for participants.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with peripheral facial paralysis or Bell's palsy who have not received prior kinesic treatment.

Not a fit: Patients with central facial paralysis or those with a history of facial paralysis lasting more than six months may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the recovery of muscle function in patients with facial paralysis.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with electrostimulation techniques for muscle recovery, suggesting potential success for this approach.
