What this trial studies
This project aims to address postpartum hemorrhage and birth asphyxia, which are leading causes of maternal and neonatal mortality. It involves establishing simulation labs in seven referral hospitals across Nepal to provide simulation-based training for healthcare providers. The training focuses on essential care during labor and birth, managing bleeding after birth, and assisting newborns in breathing. The effectiveness of this intervention will be evaluated to assess improvements in the skills and knowledge of maternal and neonatal health providers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this project include women who have recently delivered vaginally and their newborns, as well as maternal and newborn health staff working in the participating hospitals.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include those with postpartum hemorrhage referred from other hospitals and newborns with congenital abnormalities.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates in Nepal by enhancing the skills of healthcare providers.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing simulation-based training have shown positive impacts on healthcare provider competency, suggesting a promising approach for this initiative.
