What this trial studies

This study evaluates a novel computerized learning procedure aimed at enhancing marital satisfaction among military members and their partners. It focuses on using Evaluative Conditioning (EC) to strengthen automatic positive attitudes towards partners through the pairing of partner photos with positive stimuli. The research will involve a randomized controlled trial to assess the feasibility and efficacy of this approach among active-duty servicemembers and their spouses. The study builds on prior findings that suggest that enhancing partner attitudes can lead to improved marital satisfaction, especially in the context of military-related stress and separation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are married couples where one partner is an active-duty member of the US military, and both partners are at least 18 years old and proficient in English.

Not a fit: Patients who are not married or whose partners are not active-duty military members may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve marital satisfaction and well-being for military couples facing unique challenges.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success with similar approaches in civilian populations, indicating potential for effectiveness in military couples as well.
