What this trial studies
This observational study aims to enhance the management of renal tumors through the use of multimodal artificial intelligence (AI). It will evaluate the accuracy of AI predictions regarding tumor characteristics such as benign or malignant status, subtypes, grading, and staging based on preoperative CT images. Additionally, the study seeks to assist clinicians in determining the most appropriate surgical approach and to integrate CT images with pathology slides for better prognostic information. Participants will undergo active surveillance and have their postoperative survival data recorded for five years.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients with renal tumors eligible for surgical treatment who have completed a contrast-enhanced CT scan within 30 days prior to surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with metastatic renal tumors or those who have received prior treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans for patients with renal tumors.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of AI in medical imaging is gaining traction, this specific approach to renal tumor management is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
