What this trial studies

This study aims to enhance lung cancer screening uptake among the Hispanic community by implementing a multi-level intervention. The intervention includes usual care, brief patient education, referrals to financial navigation resources, and patient reminders to encourage screening with low-dose computed tomography (LDCT). The focus is on addressing barriers such as language, health literacy, and access to healthcare that disproportionately affect Hispanic patients. By comparing the effectiveness of these interventions, the study seeks to improve early detection of lung cancer in this underserved population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Hispanic individuals aged 50-80 with a history of smoking and access to a primary care provider.

Not a fit: Patients with a prior history of lung cancer or those who have had a chest CT in the last 12 months may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly increase lung cancer screening rates among Hispanic patients, leading to earlier detection and improved survival outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in implementing targeted interventions to improve cancer screening rates in underserved populations, indicating potential for this approach.
