What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of an injury prevention exercise program called Knee Control+ among youth and adult amateur football teams. It employs a hybrid cluster randomized controlled trial design, comparing teams receiving additional implementation support to those with standard access to the program. The study will assess various factors, including coach self-efficacy, player motivation, and training dosage, over the course of the 2025 football season. Coaches and players will be actively involved, with fitness coaches delivering the intervention and support materials.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include male and female amateur football teams with players aged 10 years or older who train at least twice a week.
Not a fit: Players with long-term injuries who are not planning to participate in matches during the 2025 season may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly reduce injuries among amateur football players, enhancing their safety and performance.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in similar injury prevention approaches, suggesting potential for success in this intervention.
