What this trial studies
This study aims to enhance the holistic care competencies of occupational therapy students through a structured curriculum focused on holistic thinking. The program incorporates mind maps, case-based discussions, and clinical observations to help students integrate various aspects of care, including physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions. Occupational therapy interns from a northern teaching hospital will participate in pre-tests and post-tests to evaluate their progress and satisfaction with the curriculum. The goal is to better prepare students for real-world clinical situations during their internships.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are occupational therapy interns who are currently enrolled in their internship at Shuang Ho Hospital and are proficient in Chinese.
Not a fit: Students who cannot attend the entire course or complete the 12-week internship may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the ability of occupational therapy students to provide comprehensive care to their future patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this structured holistic thinking curriculum may be novel, similar educational interventions have shown promise in enhancing clinical competencies in other healthcare fields.
