Improving hepatitis B care for foreign-born individuals in the US
Optimizing HBV Care Cascade Among Foreign-Born in the United States (FOCUS-HBV Study)

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to identify and understand the barriers that foreign-born adults in the US face in accessing care for chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections. Participants aged 18 and older, who have been diagnosed with chronic HBV and were born outside the US, will visit the NIH clinic once to complete surveys. The study will assess the impact of recent immigration on the progression through the HBV care cascade and explore factors such as acculturation and language proficiency that may affect healthcare retention. The goal is to optimize care for this population by addressing identified barriers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with chronic HBV and were born outside of the United States.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have chronic HBV or were born in the United States will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved healthcare access and outcomes for foreign-born individuals with chronic HBV.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies addressing healthcare access for HBV, this specific approach focusing on foreign-born individuals and their unique barriers is relatively novel.
